Local DJ Graham Meeres has raised over £15k for NHS Charities Together following his 24-hour 'Kitchen Rave' from his home in Burgess Hill.
Graham has been a familiar personality on Facebook Live since the Covid-19 outbreak. A DJ for 20 years, he's swapped DJ-ing at events and weddings to performing at home over Facebook to people across the globe on Saturday evenings in what has been dubbed 'Kitchen Rave'
Writing ahead of the event Graham said: 'There are NHS and frontline workers doing much more challenging 24hr shifts so the very least I can do is play a whole heap of music in their honour.'
Graham's Kitchen Rave began at 6pm on Friday and consisted of 13 different sets, starting off with 80s and 90s and ending with two hours of Trance Anthems.
'This has been the best gig I've ever done in my life' he said as his session was coming to an end, stating that it was better than performing at the Ministry of Sound!
His successful marathon effort came to an end with the theme from Rocky "as it has been an absolute battle" he said.
1,200 viewers were watching live in the closing stages, with the donations accelerating to add an extra £3k in the final hour to break the £15k barrier. Graham was aiming for a total of £5k which he delared 'I've smashed three-fold' .
Following the close of the event, Graham wrote on his Facebook page:
A massive THANK YOU VERY MUCH to everyone who has donated during my 24hr Kitchen Rave challenge, you have all blown me away by your generosity and personal support!!
This was all achieved with Graham not sitting down once for the duration of his event!!!
