Burgess Hill Fundraising Team Set £16K Target To Fund St Peter & St James' Hospice For Christmas & Boxing Day
8th December 2019 | By Peter Chapman
Visitors to Market Place Shopping Centre over the last week will have noticed a number of people in hi-vis jackets surrounding the centre's giant Christmas Tree.
They are volunteers from the Burgess Hill fundraising team who support St Peter & St James' Hospice.
During the festive period they have set themselves a target to raise £16K which will cover the running costs of the hospice for Christmas Day & Boxing Day. Organiser Geoff Atkins has described it as the group's most ambitious event to date.
A list is provided on a table next to the giant Christmas Tree to give people an idea of what their donation will help fund...
One feature is the opportunity to pay £2 to write a message to a loved one on a tag which gets put on the Christmas Tree.
There's also a contactless payment terminal where you can choose to donate, £5, £15 or £25.
The team will be at Market Place Shopping Centre up until December 22nd and will be joined by various musical performers to help you feel like making a donation.
In week one, Rock Choir, Manor Field School, The Hurstpierpoint Bell Ringers and the Sussex Harmonisers all made appearances.
Still to come are...
Friday 13th - The Craft Singers - 1pm
Saturday 14th - Salvation Army Band - TBC
Monday 16th - Gattons School - 10:30am
Wednesday 18th - Sheddingdean Primary Choir - 10am
Thursday 19th - London Meed Primary - 11:15am
Friday 20th - Birchwood Grove School Choir - 10:30am
Friday 20th -
Guy Butters & Danny Cullip from Brighton & Hove Albion - 11am
So if you're in town and have some change rattling around in your pocket, please consider giving a little bit to the hospice to help them get a little closer to their target.
Spread the word! St Peter & St James' volunteers are looking to raise £16k to run the hospice over Christmas
