Publicity Pru Moore is the new council leader as Andrew Barrett-Miles sensationally QUITS!
8th May 2017
The big news from the annual meeting of the Burgess Hill Town Council is that Cllr Andrew Barrett-Miles has QUIT as leader and is being replaced by Cllr Publicity Pru Moore.
Fresh off of having the fright of his life in the county council election with BHU's Peter Chapman finishing a strong second, it seems that ABM is getting out while the going is good and will leave someone else to carry the blame when things could start to go wrong with the impending town centre redevelopment
and the lack of £5 million to replace the Martlets Hall.
There's also the issue of there still being no District Plan in place, meaning that the public purse allegedly is missing out on £10,000 per new home being built. Literature from the Liberal Democrats claims that we've already lost out on £10 million from the developments at the Keymer Tiles site and at the development on land east of Kings Way
At the meeting this evening (Monday 8th May) Barrett-Miles said:
"It gives me great pleasure as my last duty as leader of this council to propose Cllr Pru Moore as the new leader.
"I wish you all the best and I hope your years will be as exciting as mine have been."
New Town Council leader Publicity Pru Moore said:
"It is a huge honour to lead this council and there's some very formidable shoes that I am walking into. I think I'll need to avoid them as I have a feeling that I probably won't be able to fill them, but I shall do my best."
Good luck Pru, you're going to need it, and if it all starts going wrong, at least you'll start to get your picture in the paper again!
Spread the word, Barrett-Miles is OUT, Publicity Pru Moore is IN
