Cyclist dies from serious head injuries in Burgess Hill

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was found with serious head injuries and later died.
Emergency services were called at 5.45am on Wednesday (22 February) after a 68-year-old man was found lying on the ground in Mill Road, Burgess Hill. Passers by discovered the man collapsed with his pedal cycle on top of him.
He was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton having sustained life threatening injuries to his head and chest. Sadly the man, who was local to the area, died later that same day.
Sergeant Peter Verney said: "This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones at this time. It is currently unclear as to how he sustained such serious injuries and so we are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or witnessed the incident."
