District Council's Embargoed News Story Is Released
29th January 2015
by Peter Chapman
Mid Sussex District Council sent us a press release on Monday that they put an embargo on until 00:01 Thursday 29th of January.
Yeah that's right, they wanted to ensure that their favourite local newspaper didn't get to miss out on breaking the news at the same time. Bless. No doubt the local paper's version will have pictures of smiling councillors and lots of extra quotes. Bothered.
Here's the press release in full:
Mid Sussex District Council secures £17m for improvements to Burgess Hill Link Road.
Mid Sussex District Council has secured a £17m investment for Burgess Hill. The government money will fund improvements to the A2300 link road.
The investment is an enormous boost for the local economy and will relieve congestion on this important route into Burgess Hill.
It is also a significant step forward for the Council’s plans to provide 3,000 new homes, 5,000 jobs and 200,000 sq metres of employment space in Burgess Hill.
Councillor Garry Wall, Leader of Mid Sussex Council said:
“Given the huge infrastructure deficit across West Sussex, this investment in an important link road is very good news for Mid Sussex.
The Council is committed to sustainable growth in Burgess Hill; we are planning positively for new homes and jobs. Improvements to the A2300 are critical to our plans so this support from Government is a welcome endorsement of our approach.”

What does this mean? Not a lot. Just a timely press release ahead of the election.
Shame MSDC fail to mention that the new housing in Burgess Hill will be nearer 6,000 homes and not 3,000! Oh, and as for the 200,000 sq metres of employment space, why've they not updated the figure now that the developer only wants to provide about half the amount now!
Wow, yeah, share this story! Why? We don't know! Don't bother.
