13th December 2014
By Peter Chapman
Burgess Hill Town Football Club's amazing season continued today with a 1-0 victory away to Aldershot Town in the first round of the F.A Trophy.
Dan Perry's goal in the 33rd minute was enough to see the Hillians progress through to the 2nd round for only the third time with some calling this the greatest result in the club's history
Aldershot are 54 places above Burgess Hill on the football pyramid and were a football league side just a few seasons ago and are currently impressing in the F.A Cup.
Burgess Hill played another conference side, Dartford, in the F.A Cup last month and it's that experience that helped them come better prepared for this fixture.
The team's heroics earned them the non-league team performance of the day by BBC Radio Five Live's Robbie Savage during the 6-0-6 phone-in.
Interviews: After the game, Burgess Hill manager Ian Chapman and striker Greg Luer both spoke to BBC Radio sussex, you can hear their interviews below:
The draw for the 2nd round takes place on Monday.
