Vote UKIP - Power to local people
Why vote UKIP in your local elections?
UKIP stands for bringing power back where it belongs - with the people
UKIP is known for its opposition to the European Union; but as the newest and fastest growing of the UK’s four major political parties, we stand for a lot more than that.
We believe that government at local, national and European level has become too remote from the people. They have forgotten that they work for us. Bureaucrats and professional politicians have taken over and the people’s voice – the voice of common sense – is too often ignored and over ridden. Major decisions, such as housing, should be subject to a binding local vote
Common sense local policies:
UKIP are the only party opposed to the Council’s plan for 6,000 houses on greenfields around Burgess Hill.
UKIP oppose the Council’s plans for an incinerator at nearby Goddards Green.
UKIP oppose the Council’s plans to make you pay to park outside your own home.
UKIP would introduce free car parking for the first 2 hours & cheaper long term parking at all Council car parks. This would support struggling local business & therefore jobs. It would also reduce parking in residential roads.
UKIP would repair the dangerous potholes for the long term, not short term bodges.
UKIP would introduce a children’s water play area in St John’s Park, like the one in the smaller town of Haywards Heath.
UKIP would cut council executives & managers, not public services e.g. The Chief Executive of West Sussex County Council (WSCC) remuneration for 2011/12 was £203,700! In addition more than 700 WSCC employees received remuneration in excess of £50k pa.
UKIP would freeze council tax and business rates.
UKIP would stop the ugly, noisy, expensive, inefficient, destructive to wildlife and incapable of doing the one thing they’re supposed to do – reduce CO2, wind farm off the coast of Brighton. Each of the 175 bird chomping wind turbines will be 700 feet high!
Tough on crime & anti-social behaviour. More police on the streets, by freeing them from excessive form filling.
Money for local services – While our membership of the failed EU costs us £53m a day and another £23m a day goes out in foreign aid – local jobs, services & benefits are being cut. UKIP believes that we should save that money, £28 billion pa, to help rebuild our debt ridden economy.
