Shock Extra-Time Win For Burgess Hill Town FC Sets Up Massive Semi With Haywards Heath Town
12th February 2019 | By Peter Chapman
Dan Beck's goal for Burgess Hill Town in the second period of extra-time against Eastbourne Borough gave the Hillians' a shock 1-0 victory over their National League opponents and booked a mouth-watering semi-final against local rivals Haywards Heath Town in two weeks time.
Floodlight failure saved Burgess Hill from crashing out of the cup for the second time this season when they trailed Eastbourne Borough 2-0 after just 20 minutes into the inital tie three weeks ago.

This time round, Burgess Hill had both Aaron Smith-Joseph and Dan Beck back in their line-up while Eastbourne Borough were missing striker Joe Quigley and the influential Dean Cox through injury.
The changes in personnel made for a far more even contest with extra-time required to split the two teams. Dan Beck was the man in the right place at the right time following great work by Aaron Smith-Joseph down the left-wing to break the deadlock with a confident finish to send the home supporters into a frenzy of delight.
Eastbourne had a great chance to hit straight back and substitute Jack Malleret had two good chances to kill the game off for the Hillians, but the solitary goal from Beck was enough to leave Simon Wormull's men just one victory away from a Sussex Senior Cup Final at the Amex Stadium - home of Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
