oakmeeds community collegeLooking Back : The Oakmeeds Fire

In the early hours of Sunday 23rd November 2008, Oakmeeds Community College was set alight by a teenager with the value of the damage thought to have been around £250k.

Forty firefighters from across the county were needed to tackle the blaze in 'T' block where lots of GCSE coursework was destroyed.

One classroom was completely burnt-out with another 5 rooms suffering smoke damage.

The Argus newspaper have a great story online detailing how the suspect was caught following some bragging made online.. http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/5076652.Teen_accused_of_burning_down_Burgess_Hill_school/
